The Theme for this Rotary Year is ROTARY OPENS OPPORTUNITIES.  I can’t think of a more appropriate theme to guide us through the challenges were are facing with the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic.  Rotary Clubs throughout our District, including our own club, have already shown an unprecedented ability to not only adapt to the crisis, but to use it as an opportunity to change the way clubs operate.  Many of these changes will outlast the pandemic and I am sure more will come as we experiment with different ways to manage our club’s weekly meetings, committee meetings, and Board meetings.
However, while being innovative in adapting to the current reality and looking to the future it is important that we look back at the rich history of the Rotary Club of Vancouver.  I am the 109th President of the Club, and my hope is that during the year we will relive our past by hearing from our senior members tell us what the club was like 30 or 40 years ago and to also ensure that some of the outstanding contributions we have made to our city are not forgotten.
I look forward to a challenging and very productive year for our club.
